Marine Protection
PROTECT AND ENHANCE WHAT LIES BENEATH
The Initiative aims to actively protect and enhance the underwater environment.
The main area of focus is protecting the various Priority Marine Features (including Native Oyster, Blue Mussel Beds, Maerl, Horse Mussels, Kelp Forests) in the marine habitat surrounding Davaar Island to store blue carbon, enhance coastal defences and increase biodiversity in our seas.
HELP Us
Help us to raise funds!
Though the Davaar Island Conservation Initiative, we are developing an ambitious and innovative program. As we build our marine conservation aims, we are appealing to guests and visitors to support us through volunteering, spreading the word and of course, fundraising.
Contributions towards the our initiative would assist in helping us develop our ambitious and exciting developments including Native Oyster Restoration, Blue Mussel Bed protection and Sea Kelp Lines.
If you would like to donate to our Marine restoration projects then please get in touch here. And follow us on Instagram for updates.
Our goal is to do everything we can on Davaar to benefit our aquatic wildlife and reduce the human impact as much as possible. This will involve:
- Protect and restore marine biodiversity
- Protect and improve the islands’ watercourses and provide a corridor for the otters and other species they support
- Undertake regular shoreline clean ups for tidal debris
- Investigate becoming a Mission Blue “Hope Spot”
We aim to work with others in the community to make sure we collectively protect and sustain marine life.
