Once home to Davaar’s Principal Lighthouse Keeper, the Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage sits within the historic lighthouse compound at the far end of the island. With two bedrooms, wonderful sea views, a wood-burning stove and the lighthouse just outside the door, it’s a wonderfully comfortable base for two — or for up to four guests wanting to experience Davaar together.

The cottage has everything you need for a proper island stay: a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting room, two bedrooms and plenty of space to settle in. Light the fire after a day outside, watch the weather move across the sea, or step out of the door to explore the island, caves and shoreline.

The Lighthouse Keepers Cottage, Davaar Island

Built in 1854, the Davaar lighthouse was designed by David and Thomas Stevenson, and the cottage formed part of the working lighthouse station. The lighthouse was automated in 1983, but the compound still has that wonderful sense of being at the very edge of things.

Davaar is reached across the tidal causeway from Campbeltown. We collect you and your luggage by 4×4 on arrival and take you across to the cottage, timed around the tide. Once you’re here, you can be as secluded as you like.
