One of Scotland's most secluded spots

Davaar Island is just three miles directly south of Campbeltown on the Mull of Kintyre. The journey to reach the cottages makes a beautiful trip in itself — with the Dhorlin causeway exposed twice a day at low tide.

By car

The most popular way to reach the Mull of Kintyre is by car via the A83 — the “long and winding road” that stretches down the peninsula from Loch Lomond through Tarbert and on down to Campbeltown. From Glasgow follow the Erskine Bridge, then the A82 past Loch Lomond, Rest and be Thankful, Inveraray and Lochgilphead, on through Tarbert to Campbeltown. Coming out of Campbeltown, follow the coast road for approximately three miles towards Davaar — you will pass the NATO depot on your right, and soon after come to a large layby on your left, which is the parking area for guests.

By air

Air access is direct into Campbeltown Airport. The flight leaves twice daily from Glasgow, touching down in Campbeltown just 30 minutes later, and is currently operated by Loganair. Local taxis are readily available from the airport — alternatively call Fona Taxi on 01586 554001 or Tavies Taxis on 01586 551122. Car hire is also available locally.

By sea

The high-speed charter ferry to Campbeltown Harbour takes 55 minutes from Troon on the Ayrshire coast, and only 50 minutes from Northern Ireland — see kintyreexpress.com.

Then the last stretch

On the mainland we have a designated parking area where guests can leave their car. From here we transport you and your luggage across the tidal causeway in our dedicated island 4×4. When you book your stay we will advise on the best crossing times.
